Reviews: the quiet moneymaker

Google reviews are the #1 driver of local business inbound. Most tradespeople never ask for them — feels awkward. Nalo does it for you, at the right moment, in the right language, every single time.

Setup (one minute, one time)

  1. Open your Google Business Profile → “Ask for a review”
  2. Copy the URL that looks like: https://g.page/r/XXXXXXXXXXXXXX/review
  3. In Nalo: /config → Profile → Billing → Google review link → paste → Save

Done. That’s it.

When reviews are requested

Every time you mark an invoice as PAID, Nalo schedules a review request:

  • 2 hours after payment — long enough that the job’s over, short enough that the memory is fresh
  • Only if the business has a review link configured
  • Only once per invoice — no spam
  • In the client’s language — English or Spanish
  • Polite, not pushy

What the client sees

English:

Pedro Plumbing thanks you for your business!

If you are happy with the work, a quick Google review would mean the world:

https://g.page/r/XXXXX/review

Spanish:

¡Pedro Plumbing te agradece tu confianza!

Si quedaste satisfecho, una reseña rápida en Google nos ayudaría muchísimo:

https://g.page/r/XXXXX/review

Why this works

  • Timing matters: 2h post-payment captures the positive-emotion moment
  • No friction: tap the link → Google opens → 1-tap 5-star review
  • Framed as thanks, not transaction: reads genuine, not salesy
  • Opt-in-friendly: no pressure. Client does nothing if they don’t want to.

Disabling for a specific client

Rare, but: tap their profile in /config → Clients → Memory → add “no review request”. Nalo sees this before sending.

Turning off globally

Clear the Google review link field. All future review requests stop.

Results you can expect

Industry average for tradespeople without an automated ask: ~2 reviews per 100 jobs. With Nalo’s automated ask: ~15–25 reviews per 100 jobs (based on automated follow-up service data).

In 3 months you’ll outpace competitors who’ve been in business longer. That’s the point.

Monthly AI recap

On the 1st of every month at 9am your local time, Nalo sends you a 150-word summary. Mirrored to Telegram (for you as the owner) and to your primary WhatsApp/SMS (so you can’t miss it).

Example recap (April 1st, about March):

Pedro, March was your best month — $12,400 revenue, up 18% from February. Mrs Lewis is your top client ($2,100 across 4 jobs). You logged $1,840 in expenses, mostly Materials ($980 at Home Depot) and Fuel ($340). Net: $10,560 — a record.

Three quotes from February are still pending: Q-ABC123, Q-XYZ456, Q-PQR789. Worth a follow-up — 60% of quote → pay conversions happen in the 2-week window after the quote.

One suggestion for April: the weekly recurring appointments you added in March brought in $1,800 on autopilot. Adding two more recurring clients could push you past $14K.

Keep it up. 🔧

What’s in the recap

Data pulled from your records for the previous month:

  • Revenue invoiced vs. actually collected (the gap tells you who still owes you)
  • Total expenses + top expense category
  • Net (collected − expenses)
  • Quote count and invoice count (conversion rate = invoices ÷ quotes)
  • Top 3 clients by revenue
  • Pending follow-ups (old quotes never accepted, overdue invoices)

Language

Matches your chat language, not the document language. Because this is for you, not for clients.

Regenerate on demand

/config → Dashboard → Monthly Recap section → Regenerate button.

Useful if you forgot what last month’s recap said, or if you changed data retroactively and want a fresh take.

Why monthly (not weekly)

  • Weekly feels nagging
  • Tradesperson patterns are monthly (billing cycles, seasonal shifts, cash flow)
  • 150 words is readable in one breath

Daily recaps are coming as an opt-in for tradespeople who want tighter tracking. Let the team know.

The Dashboard card

/configDashboardMonthly Recap section shows the last generated recap in full.

If one hasn’t been generated yet this month, clicking Regenerate creates it on-demand.

Tips

  • Check the recap every month — the pattern insights are the gold, not the numbers. Nalo surfaces the thing you’d have missed otherwise.
  • Act on one suggestion — don’t try to do everything. One action per month compounds fast.
  • Share the recap with your accountant / partner — it’s already written in plain English. No editing needed.
  • If you hired someone mid-month, cross-reference — the recap tells you if they’re bringing in enough to cover their rate.

Privacy & data use

  • The recap is generated by Claude (Anthropic) using only your business data
  • Data leaves your Nalo server for ~2 seconds of Claude inference, then the recap is saved locally
  • No training happens on your data
  • Clients aren’t named in the recap unless they’re in your top 3 (first name only; no phone/address)
